Welcome to Windermere School in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Established in 1863, we are a boarding and day school for boys and girls from age 3 to 18. With access to a spectacular greater classroom, we can really live our school motto: Vincit qui se Vincit. One conquers, who conquers oneself.

Windermere School is situated on the edge of Lake Windermere, which means we can offer a wide variety of outdoor activities both within and outside the curriculum.

We aim to be the best small independent school in Britain and offer a nurturing environment that allows our pupils to flourish.

Our International Baccalaureate Diploma results are consistently above world average and typically range from 33-34. In 2016 a quarter of the cohort achieved over 40.

In 2016 95 per cent of all GCSE students achieved A*-C and over a half of the cohort achieved A*-A.

The School has Royal Yachting Association Champion Club status, the first School in the UK to receive this status. An RYA Champion Club is recognised as being a Centre of Excellence for junior race training and racing.... these clubs form the bedrock of the British Olympic Sailing Team.
