Sealy UK
About Sealy
Sealy are the world’s number one bed brand, with a rich heritage that dates back to 1881. It all began in a small town in Texas, where a young Daniel Haynes developed his first ever cotton filled mattress. Over 130 years later, Sealy operates in over 50 countries worldwide.
Sealy UK invests more time and money on product development than any other bed manufacturer, utilising state-of-the-art facilities at the world’s largest and most advanced research and development centre in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is in addition to the Silentnight Group’s own research and development resource at Barnoldswick in Lancashire.
Nestled in the heart of Cumbria, Sealy UK employs around 330 people and generates a staggering 3,500 mattresses a week from our 160,000 sq ft factory.
Sealy UK are assosiated with some of the most prestigious organisations, including the Orthopaedic Advisory Board and Allergy UK- holding their seal of approval for our Sealy Smart Fibres. Sealy UK also holds a Which? Best Buy accreditation, with one of our mattresses receiving the highest score in testing.
Helping the nation sleep better is so much more than a hollow philosophy to our brand, this mission literally drives everything we do.
Environmental sustainability
Sealy UK continually assess the environmental impact of our operations and try to minimise the use of materials, resources and energy where possible. In particular, we will reduce our wastage to the lowest practical level, whilst boasting a ‘zero to landfill’ policy.
Our products are designed in such a way to minimise their environmental effects in production, usage and disposal and we are the first bed company to be accredited under the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme.
At Sealy UK we have a policy which states “to meet and where practical, exceed all relevant regulatory requirements and minimise any adverse environmental effects caused as a result of the company’s activities or products.”
Providing support to the community
Sealy UK aim to foster strong working relationships with relevant charitable organisations, especially those that have a direct impact on the company, employees and the local community. Established in 2016, Sealy UK’s Social and Charity Committee have provided donations and support to many worthy causes, including: CFM’s Cash for Kids, Hospice at Home, the Great North Air Ambulance and many more.
