Kendal College is a further education College situated in the market town of Kendal on the edge of the Lake District National Park.

Specialising in Further and Higher Education with an emphasis on vocational training, Kendal College has been ranked the second best college in England by FE Weekly. Its exceptionally high standards are testament both to the experience and expertise of the professional teaching staff and the achievements and successes of the students. Currently there are around 950 full-time students, over 1,300 individual part-time learners, 140 Higher Education students, and over 1,000 apprentices that choose to study at Kendal College each year.

The College has two campuses located in the north and south of Kendal. The Main Site Campus houses the Engineering, Science & Technology Centre, Animal Rescue Centre, Construction Workshops and The Retreat Hair & Beauty Salons among other subject areas, whilst the Arts & Media Campus includes music performance, art & design, recording studios and performance venue – The Box.

The diverse curriculum at Kendal College offers a wide range of further education programmes aimed at a variety of learners, from A-Levels, vocational diplomas and apprenticeships through to BA (Hons) degrees. Since 2011, Kendal College has operated an award-winning Restaurant and Apprenticeship Academy – The Castle Dairy – in one of Kendal’s oldest buildings. The innovative fine dining restaurant is a finishing school for hospitality students and has built a reputation as being one of the best places to eat in the town. The College also runs a prestigious School of Hospitality and Management, which has helped to produce some of the area’s top chefs and hospitality professionals as well as offering bespoke training packages to employers across the industry.

Kendal College is one of only a handful of UK colleges to be able to offer an occupational museum and gallery skills qualification through its management of the 220-year old Kendal Museum. As well as being a popular visitor attraction, Kendal Museum – one of the oldest in the country – is also a teaching department within the College.

Training facilities and learning resources across Kendal College are industry-standard and the College has invested more than £27 million since 2003 to make sure it stays at the top of its field and continues to attract students from all over Cumbria and North Lancashire.
