The College is one of the largest employers in the area, providing flexible employment opportunities and currently employing just over 300 staff.
Each year we train over 5000 students. We work with over 500 employers and train just over 900 apprentices.
The college delivers excellent progression pathways ranging from Entry Level through to Level 7 (MSc) across 15 sector areas. A large amount of college provision falls within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). STEM accounts for 73% of provision in Higher Education and this has grown from 64% over the last four years.
Similarly STEM in workplace learning has grown from 49% to 65% over the same period whilst classroom learning has grown from 60% to 76%.
Furness College is proportionally one of the highest deliverers of Higher Education (HE) among further education colleges. The college has well established relationships with Lancaster University, the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Cumbria.
All engineering HE programmes are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and/or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (I MechE).
