Nigel has spent 25 years at Langdale developing his career, and enjoys the challenges that changing technology brings to his role.
“I started at Langdale in lodge housekeeping at a weekend when I was 16,” he said. “I got on well with the Sales and Marketing Director at the time and she took me under her wing and encouraged me to spend more time in the marketing department. A full-time position came up as a marketing assistant and I’ve been in the team ever since and progressed to Marketing Manager.
“One of the good things about working at Langdale is the varied portfolio of tasks, with web development, social media, SEO and print design. We have control over everything, so decisions can be made instantly and we can react to things as they happen. At bigger hotel chains, marketing teams often have to wait for approval from head office and they can miss the moment.
“I really enjoy the web development side of my role and seeing the results from that. We developed the Brimstone site almost 12 months ago and saw an almost instant result with increased traffic to the website and increased room bookings.
“In marketing, there are always new challenges with new technology, so I’m keen to explore them and progress and develop my knowledge.
“Langdale is a fantastic place to work and they really look after you. I’m glad I stayed in Cumbria and I am where I am today.”
