Allie Jackson, 19, a Business Administrator for Athena PTS, lives in Askam

Allie started her career as a Business Admin apprentice at Athena PTS and hopes to progress into accounts management at the company.

Allie took on an apprenticeship and studied at Furness College after deciding to stay close to home and pursue a career in Cumbria.

“An apprenticeship appealed to me because I wanted to learn and earn,” she said. “I always thought I’d go to university, but I realised that I didn’t want to leave home and be away from my family. An apprenticeship was a great option for me.”

Allie has gained valuable experience at Athena PTS and would encourage other young people to consider an apprenticeship at a smaller firm.

“I feel like I’ve learnt more because it’s so tight-knit here,” she said. “I’ve had the benefit of one-to-one learning.

“I’ve now completed my apprenticeship but I’m planning to study towards other qualifications with Athena PTS.”
