A Big Community with Big Ambitions and a Big Welcome is guaranteed in Cumbria

Cumbria is a big community offering you the best of both worlds - a perfect mix of rural landscape with stunning scenery and an urban environment in easy reach of some of the big cities.

It’s an exciting time for the NHS in Cumbria, with big ambitions having just secured one of the first 29 “Vanguard” projects to receive support from NHS England’s new NHS Transformation Fund.

Health professionals have the chance to be at the forefront of developing new ways of caring for and supporting people in the community, while freeing up hospitals for more efficient, accessible and advanced care for those who are seriously ill or injured.

For our staff this means a future full of opportunities including involvement in the development of our new models of care, developing innovative ways of working and introducing new roles and the opportunity for career progression.

There is a real community feel about the NHS in Cumbria and a big welcome is always guaranteed for anyone coming to live and work here.  But, why take our word for it? - read what some of our staff have got to say http://www.choosecumbria.co.uk/personal-stories

NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group is the main commissioner of local NHS services. 77 GP practices in Cumbria are members of NHS Cumbria CCG.

Most hospital care, including emergency treatment and scheduled surgery and clinics, is run by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust at Furness General Hospital, Barrow-in-Furness, Royal Lancaster Infirmary in the heart of Lancaster, and Westmorland General Hospital at Kendal. The Trust also delivers services at two smaller, community-based centres, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community Health Centre. It employs around 5000 staff.

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of NHS services across the County of Cumbria. Around 4,000 staff operate 60 community and mental health services from over 20 main sites and many other premises shared with other health or community services such as GP surgeries. The Trust manages over 400 inpatient beds (150 mental health / 250 community hospital).

As well as the exciting future ahead, there has been significant investment in our workforce over the last two years, through developments to services and increases in front line staff resulting in a number of new vacancies.

In addition to candidates interested in our current vacancies, we would like to hear from people who may be interested in future roles, and would like to be part of our Better Care Together transformational journey.
