Superstar comedian and marathon man Eddie Izzard is heading to Cumbria to talk politics after students invited him via Twitter.

The multilingual star will lead a ‘Brexit’ debate with students at Barrow Sixth Form College – a partner of Choose Cumbria – later this month as they prepare to take their A-levels.

Politics student Louise Linton is looking forward to meeting Eddie after inviting him to visit the college via Twitter.

She said: “We all wanted Eddie to come into college because he is really into politics.

“I’m sure he’ll have something interesting to say on the areas we’ve been covering, which is useful for our exams.”

The event on Tuesday, May 31 for Barrow Sixth Form College students is part of the comedian’s Stand Up for Europe campaign.

Later that evening, Eddie will play his Force Majeure show at The Beggar’s Theatre in Millom, in three languages - English, French and German.

The comedian has enjoyed several trips to Cumbria and is known for his love of Kendal Mint Cake.
