Arts students have been invited to reimagine Beatrix Potter’s much-loved characters.

The Beatrix Potter Reimagined competition is being run by The Lakes International Comic Art Festival to mark the 150th anniversary of the iconic author and artist.

Students are challenged to put a contemporary twist on Beatrix Potter’s tales and link them to The Lake District.

Festival Director Julie Tait said: “We’re keen to encourage the next generation of artists to explore their creative talents.

“Beatrix Potter Reimagined is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this amazing Lake District artist and storyteller and reach out to a new generation of artists. I can’t wait to see what the entrants come up with.”

The competition is supported by the University of Cumbria – a partner of Choose Cumbria – and will be judged by top comic artists including Bryan Talbot, Sean Phillips and Festival patron Stephen Holland.

The winners will take home prizes by tablet manufacturer Wacom and have their entries displayed at the Beatrix Potter Reimagined exhibition during the Festival.

Entrants must be 16 or over and artwork must be submitted before September 1, 2016.
