The Sun Inn, Kirkby Lonsdale and The Bay Cycle Way have reached the final of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2016.

The Sun Inn has been shortlisted in the new Dog Friendly Business of the Year category, while The Bay Cycle Way, which runs along the South Cumbrian coast, is in the running for the Tourism Experience of the Year in England award.

Lucy Fuller, Co-owner of the Sun Inn, said: “As a business, we pride ourselves on offering the quality and service guests expect from a luxury inn, while also being welcoming to dog lovers too.”

Speaking on behalf of Morecambe Bay Partnership, Janet Barton said: “The Bay Cycle Way is a really exciting development for the Morecambe Bay area. Lots of cyclists are already experiencing the wonders of this special place at a relaxed pace, taking in the stunning views and sampling the mouth-watering local produce.”

Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park in Keswick has also made the final five in the Holiday Park/Holiday Village of the Year category.

All finalists will receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award at the ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday March 8 in Blackpool.
