A LEADING biomass firm has just bagged a major award in a national competition.
Barden Energy has scooped the Off-grid Installer of the Year in the nationally acclaimed H & V News Awards.
The awards celebrate the exceptional achievements throughout the industry across a number of fields and Barden Energy triumphed in two of the categories.
It beat off competition from BSW Building Services, Clarke’s Gas Services, R A Brown Heating services and Matrix Energy Systems, in the Off-grid Installer category before being highly acclaimed in its second.
Barden was highly commended in the District Heating Project of the Year category for its work at Armathwaite Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Keswick.
This project saw the installation of a 700kw biomass boiler along with an extensive piping system to heat a number of areas of the 11th-century site.
Ken Kneale, managing director of Barden Energy, was delighted to have won the award.
He said: “We won two awards the first was the Off-Grid Installers of the year in relation of the number and quality of the installations that we have done in the North West of England in large hotels.
“The fact that a relatively small company from Cumbria can go and win an award like that is something to be proud of. It’s fantastic.
“We also came highly commended in the District Heating Project of the Year category. Although we didn’t win this, the full award went to the installation for the Athletes’ Village in Glasgow which was a massive project.
“To go down and come away with two awards was just a really proud moment for everyone at Barden.”
Will Barden, owner of Barden Energy, was presented with the award at a glittering awards ceremony at Grosvenor House, in London.
He said: “I’m over the moon that what started out as push for green energy has been recognised and applauded at this level. We were up against big names and massive projects so the honour is absolutely fantastic.”
