In an unlikely collaboration, George Romney is producing a limited edition Kendal mint cake to mark the 21st birthday of US celebrity Kendall Jenner on Thursday, November 3.
The confectionery firm was approached by online fashion retailer Lyst to create ‘Kendall’ Mint Cake for the model, who shot to fame on reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians as Kim Kardashian’s half-sister.
Some 200 limited edition packages of the special birthday cakes are being given away by Lyst’s social media channels and one contains a golden ticket for some of the celebrity’s favourite items.
Paula Barron, director of George Romney, said: "When Lyst first approached us with the idea of a special 'Kendall' Mint Cake, we were intrigued.
“Why not give our iconic packaging a 21st century update for her 21st birthday?
“We love the quirky finished product, and hope that maybe it will inspire Kendall to one day visit the beautiful town of Kendal and The Lake District."
The ‘Kendall’ Mint Cake follows Choose Cumbria’s branded mint cake, made by George Romney, which proved popular at leisure events including the Keswick to Barrow Walk and Cumbrian Challenge over the summer.
Kendal mint cake has powered generations of mountaineers, explorers and British eccentrics since 1869 and was famously carried by Sir Edmund Hillary and his team on the first ever successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.
