A vision to create 33,000 new homes in Cumbria has been backed by councillors.
The Cumbria Housing Group has a shared vision to create 33,020 new homes, including 8,800 new affordable homes, by 2030.
The group says these new homes will lead to 3,634 direct jobs, support a further 6,700 indirect jobs, and create 291 apprenticeships.
It wants to accelerate the rate of housing growth, which drives a growing economy, where affordable and market housing, both urban and rural, are delivered.
The group particularly wants to increase the rate of housing growth in areas of major economic investment along the M6 corridor - BAE Systems in Barrow, a partner of Choose Cumbria, and NuGen in West Cumbria.
It also wants to deliver a safe private rented sector, significantly reduce the number of long-term empty houses, make home energy-efficiency improvements and regenerate housing areas to drive economic growth.
The housing group is made up from six district housing authorities, Cumbria County Council and the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities.
