The University of Cumbria his forging new links with employers to help them make the most of higher level and degree apprenticeship schemes.
New apprentice development manager, Peter Train, has joined the university – a partner of Choose Cumbria – to help employers maximise the opportunities offered by the schemes.
Mr Train was previously the head of learning and development at Cumbria Police, and had developed a partnership with the university from an employers’ perspective.
After seeing for himself what difference such opportunities can offer to individuals and businesses, Mr Train became a keen advocate of apprentices.
The new manager, said: “The University is keen to engage with employers across Cumbria and staff here are looking for new opportunities to share our existing expertise in areas such as management, health and teaching more widely.”
