Three student nurses from the University of Cumbria have been shortlisted in the prestigious Student Nursing Times Awards.
Zoe Butler from Kendal has been nominated for Most Inspirational Student Nurse of the Year – her second award nomination in a week after being nominated for the Andrew Parker Student Nurse Award from the Royal College of Nursing.
Kirsty Rudd’s work has been recognised in the Learning Disabilities category, while Steven Shaw is listed in the Mental Health category.
Steven, a Student Quality Ambassador from Blackpool, called the nomination a “great honour”.
He added: “I couldn’t have done it without the help of the tutors and workplace mentors who’ve all been so supportive.”
Louise Corless, senior lecturer in mental health nursing at the University of Cumbria, said: “We’re just delighted for the students. It’s an amazing achievement to have three separate nominations from the university.”
The Student Nursing Times Awards – to be held at the London Hilton on Thursday, April 27 – aims to pay tribute to the students who have demonstrated the academic achievement, clinical prowess and personal qualities that will make them brilliant nurses.
