in-Cumbria unveils exclusive business breakfast events

Published on: Tuesday 5th June 2018

in-Cumbria is hitting the road with a trio of breakfast events focusing on big issues affecting the county’s businesses.

Responding to popular demand, Cumbria’s biggest and best business magazine and website in-Cumbria will host exclusive business breakfasts in Barrow, Carlisle and Whitehaven.

With high-profile speakers from Cumbria’s business community to be announced, there will be a maximum of 100 tickets at each of the free events, sponsored by in-Cumbria Business Awards partner Sellafield Limited.

The first business breakfast takes place at The Abbey House Hotel, Barrow, on Wednesday, June 20, and will focus on the themes of innovation, research and development and Cumbria’s post-Brexit future.

On Wednesday, July 4, the event moves to Carlisle Racecourse, where speakers will tackle what the Northern Powerhouse means for Cumbria and the huge potential of The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal.

The final business breakfast will be held at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven, on Wednesday, July 18 where the hot topic for debate will be West Cumbria’s future beyond nuclear.

The events will feature short speeches from high-profile experts in their field, before opening up in to a questions and answers session, chaired by editor of in-Cumbria magazine, Luke Dicicco.

It will give the audience with a chance to share their views on the topics for discussion, and also raise issues that are important to them and their business.

Mr Dicicco said: “We’re really excited to be hitting the road with this series of business breakfasts.

“These are interesting times for business, with many opportunities and challenges facing a county with such a diverse and vibrant business landscape.

“There are so many different views and perspectives out there, we felt the timings was right to bring businesses together for what promise to be lively debates on just a few of the many hot topics in Cumbria at the moment.

“Ever since our hugely successful Business Brexfast with BBC media editor Amol Rajan, we have been inundated with requests to hold more.

“So, we’re looking forward to welcoming as many businesses as possible to Barrow, Carlisle and Whitehaven over the next month to join the debate and see where it leads.”
