A new project is launched today (Monday, August 1) to encourage more people in Cumbria to become more active.
The project, Go Active in Cumbria, will focus on getting people active through walking, running, cycling, swimming and other outdoor and indoor activities around the county.
Initial partners in Go Active are Active Cumbria, the County Sports Partnership/Cumbria County Council, GSK and CN Group – the award-winning company behind Choose Cumbria.
Jonathan Lee, Group Development Director at CN Group, said: "Go Active aims to help people in an encouraging, supportive and informative way, so they can find their own route to a more fun, active life with all the mental, physical and social benefits that can bring.
"With the Olympic Games starting on Friday, bringing back memories of London 2012, we hope people of all ages, from nine to 90, from families to work colleagues, will be inspired to join in, give it a go, and Go Active."
Pat McIver, Project Director at GSK Ulverston – also a partner of Choose Cumbria – said: “GSK’s mission is to help people to do more, feel better and live longer, so we are delighted to support this initiative to encourage people in Cumbria to become more active.”
Choose Cumbria will feature news, events and top tips from Go Active to showcase the opportunities to get active in the region.
