Open to entrants from South Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, the annual event comes to the Lancaster Grand Theatre on January 30, 2016, with the finalists competing to win a share of more than £3,000 in prizes for their chosen good causes.
The finalists in the competition organised by Furness Building Society, a partner of Choose South Cumbria, and The Bay Radio, in association with the North West Evening Mail, come from across the North West, including South Cumbria. The charities they represent range from bikers transporting vital blood supplies and organisations to help blind and partially sighted people, to mountain rescue volunteers, a hospice, and teenagers aiming to build homes for the poor in Mexico.
The full line-up of finalists is led by three acts from Furness: Barrow's Alex McCormack, aged 12, for the Look Good Feel Good cancer charity, Christopher Barker, aged 25, representing the town’s Cast Theatre Company, and Rebecca Williams, aged 16, from Walney for Barrow Vision Support Centre.

Bay Radio presenter Darren Milby, who was on the judging panel, said: “Once again the high standard and huge variety of the entries made the judges’ job very hard and we had some tough decisions to make the final selection which includes fantastic charities and some very talented people. We are confident we have the makings of a brilliant show.”
Furness Building Society marketing support manager Sarah Wane, who was also one of the judges, added: “It is heart-warming to see so many people willing to perform to put the spotlight on the wonderful work of these charities. The Society is proud to give them a platform to promote that work, and of course help to raise vital funds.”
Every finalist is already assured of gaining at least £100 for their chosen charity, and the top three acts will collect cash prizes of £1000, £750 and £500. The ultimate winner will also get the chance to become a Star for a Day at The Bay. The videos for the finalists can be found at www.thebay.co.uk
Tickets for the show at the Lancaster Grand Theatre on January 30 are now available from the theatre box office, priced at £5 each.
