California-based comic creators Steve and Luke McGarry will appear at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October.
Manchester-born cartoonist Steve is best known for creating comic strips for a number of British newspapers and his work on the popular Minions movie characters.
He said: “Luke and I are delighted to be part of this year’s Festival. Although we’ve been based in Los Angeles for many years, my career was launched and established in the UK.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be invited to 'come home' and join in the festivities."
Luke, the creator behind the Star Wars-inspired "Sad Chewie" cartoons that became an internet phenomenon, has also created animated music videos for artists including Jack Black. He also fronts indie dance duo Pop Noir with twin brother Joe.
At the event, Steve and Luke will discuss how they broke into the worlds of illustration, syndication and animation.
Steve will also present a children’s programme on "How to Draw Minions and More” in the Family Zone at the Festival, while Luke will perform with Pop Noir.
Choose Cumbria will again be supporting this year’s festival, which takes place in venues across Kendal, from October 14–16.
