Toon titans Asterix and Tintin will face off at the launch of The Lakes International Comic Art Festival on Friday, October 14.
Novelist and philosopher Dr Benoît Peeters will represent world-famous boy detective Tintin, while BAFTA award-winning producer Peter Kessler will put the case forward for Asterix.
Joining them live on stage will be Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard, comic book writer Leah Moore, Australian comics scholar and creator Stuart Medley and Amiens Comics Festival Director Pascal Mériaux.
Festival Director Julie Tait said: “This year, we have one of our best programmes yet. It aims to feed the hunger of comic art fans whilst also appealing to those new to a comic art festival of this kind.
"We have some of the most exciting and inspiring artists and writers working in comics, film, animation and gaming from across the globe descending on one of the most beautiful towns in the world."
California-based comic creators Steve and Luke McGarry will also appear at the festival alongside Deadpool comic writer Joe Kelly, 2000 AD's Mick McMahon and Bryan Lee O’Malley, creator of the Scott Pilgrim series.
Choose Cumbria will again be supporting this year’s event, which takes place in venues across Kendal from October 14 – 16.
The festival will feature performances, exhibitions, workshops and live drawing from leading comic creators.
