Furness College in Barrow-in-Furness has been praised for its work with employers and higher education providers in the region.

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), which monitors standards in UK higher education, singled out the College’s strong relationship with employers and providers including BAE Systems and the University of Cumbria, who along with Furness College are all partners of Choose Cumbria.

Andrew Wren, Principal of Furness College, said that staff at the College were delighted with the outcome of the review.

He added: “The report clearly demonstrates that students attending Furness College enjoy their time with us, succeed and go on to meet their career aspirations.

“QAA recognises the extremely high quality of our higher education courses, the outstanding success of our students, and the skills, dedication and expertise of our staff.”

Following the successful review, Furness College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating that it meets national requirements for standards and quality.
