Electrical safety and monitoring specialist Bender UK welcomed local business leaders and representatives from Europe to Ulverston for the official opening event.

The 2,000 sq metre building at Low Mill Business Park accommodates offices, conference facilities, warehousing, training and customer demonstration areas.

Managing Director Gareth Brunton introduced Bender UK’s new purpose-built headquarters and praised the firm’s success in Cumbria.

He said: “The philosophy of Bender is to aspire to be the best we can and to act with respect, honesty, integrity and openness and, most importantly, to enjoy ourselves. I think we fulfil all of those criteria at Bender UK.

“The intention for Bender UK is to increase our presence in the market and tell our story to as many people are we possibly can.

“The company provides our staff and families with a wonderful standard of living and this on-going investment should help to secure all of our futures.

“I drove to work over Birkrigg this morning and the view was spectacular. It’s great to live in an area like this and I don’t think people truly appreciate how wonderful the surroundings are. You can get lost in a rat-run in a city, but we can appreciate what we’ve got here on our doorstep.”

German-based Christian Bender, the son of company founder Walther Hans Bender, flew to the UK to attend the event and thanked Mr Brunton and the staff at Bender UK.

He said: “A very warm welcome from my family to all of you. It’s a pleasure to be here at the new building.

“Gareth has an excellent team at Bender UK, I can really feel the team spirit here.”

John Woodcock, MP for Barrow and Furness, officially opened the state-of-the-art facility alongside Mr Brunton and Mr Bender.

Guests at the event viewed the company’s advanced technology solutions on display, including Bender surgical lighting, touch screen theatre control panels and other critical care medical solutions.

The facility is also equipped with Bender continuous monitoring technology to enable predictive maintenance of the buildings electrical infrastructure.

Bender UK - a partner of Choose Cumbria - has doubled in size since 2010 driven by its ability to deliver bespoke engineered solutions and an advanced service and support capability for the medical sector.
