Bad weather moves Ulverston Christmas festival indoors

The Taste Cumbria Christmas festival is gathering speed towards its inaugural event this weekend but is preparing to move some of the events indoors to shelter from the storms.

Many of the event's attractions, including the giant snow globe, Santa's grotto and live music events will now take place in the Sun Inn, and plans are in place to relocate the traders' stalls to alternative venues.

Due to excessive winds, organisers are looking to move all stands into New Market Street, where traders will be less exposed to the gales, but discussions are also under way to see if those too can be moved indoors.

A decision will be taken at 9am on Saturday morning as to the location of the traders’ market to ensure stallholders are safe if the weather is wet and windy.

Visitors are asked to check the Taste Cumbria Facebook and Twitter for any updates.
