What's on in Egremont
Lowes Court Gallery on the main street holds regular exhibitions for local artists and the Market Hall, used by many community groups, has an intermittent programme of arts and events. The disused Florence Mine has been redeveloped and is now home to the Florence Arts Centre. This small, but unique venue shows films, has music, occasional live theatre and a range of activities and projects for all ages.
For shopping, eating and entertainment, most people generally head to neighbouring Whitehaven or Workington… unless of course you need a dairy fix and then you should head to Hartley’s Ice Cream Parlour. Established in 1931, the firm now offer over 50 flavours. Native Cumbrians are known to travel miles for a Hartley’s (fact).
