Job Description

All health and care partners in the Morecambe Bay area have been working together on an ambitious programme of service redesign for the past three years: Better Care Together (BCT). The overarching aim is to create an integrated health and care system for our population, which is sustainable for the long term. In addition, the last six months have seen our updated Better Care Together strategy become an increasingly key component of the wider Sustainability and Transformation Programme (STP) for Lancashire and South Cumbria.

This role is a unique opportunity to provide programme direction and leadership for our pioneering programme across the health and care economy in South Cumbria and North Lancashire (Bay Health & Care Partners) with the opportunity to gain a regional and national reputation for shaping the NHS of the future. As a result of the successful development of the Better Care Together strategy and continued support as a Vanguard site, the Bay partnership of NHS and local authority organisations are seeking a Programme Director to assist with leadership of the implementation phase of the programme. Our future vision of our local health and social care system is ambitious, radical and transformational. We wish to do things differently in the way we implement our strategy and proposed approach to making change happen across a complex system.
Working with a range of multi stakeholders and a team of Senior Responsible Officers, you will thrive in a challenging environment, demonstrating experience of working on large complex projects and bringing a wealth of skills and knowledge of service transformation and delivery of major change projects. Strong relationship management and leadership skills will demonstrate that you are able to engage positively and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

As post holder you will be required to demonstrate that you:

• can take responsibility, including putting things right when they go wrong and recognising and acknowledging success
• have a good understanding of the business issues associated with the BHCP CIP and delivery plans;
• can negotiate, persuade, influence and think laterally to overcome obstacles and ensure delivery of the programme;
• are a strong, self-motivated individual with the flexibility to adapt to meet changing requirements;
• have sufficient experience and skills to carry out your responsibilities;
• are politically astute, are aware of the broader perspective and how it affects the plans and can influence stakeholders within the local health economy and across the wider STP footprint;
• can represent the interests of BHCP’s CIP and Delivery

Programme through effective networking with peers and key stakeholders.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
