Students with ambitions to work for Choose South Cumbria partner GSK have gained a first-hand insight into the business.
Both students are studying A-Levels in chemistry, biology, maths and geology.
Jackson is applying for an analytical chemistry laboratory apprenticeship at GSK and was interested to see work in the labs that was related to his own chemistry studies.
He said: “The Dream Placement process has helped me with my interview and communication skills.
“It has been so valuable and I’ve learnt so much. I didn’t realise how huge the site is.
“I would definitely encourage other students to apply for a Dream Placement.”
Sian has applied to become a microbiology laboratory apprentice at GSK.
She said: “I was completely over the moon to get a Dream Placement at GSK. It is amazing how valuable it is for me as I have applied for an apprenticeship.
“The process has really helped me with my confidence. I’m meeting new people and being in a work environment.”
Jackson and Sian won places on the Centre for Leadership Performance’s Dream Placement scheme after making it through a competitive county-wide process to find Cumbria’s future leaders. Click here to read more.
Laura Jenkins, commercial development lead at GSK Ulverston, said: “Jackson and Sian have come in very keen. They have asked great questions and are very interested in what people are doing. They’ve had a great insight into what we do here.”
