University of Cumbria Student Union’s officers Hannah Price and Anna Fletcher – both teaching graduates – are passing on their top tips for starting university in a new series of short videos that are being shared on social media during clearing week.
Hannah and Anna’s guides aim to explain more about what life is like at the University of Cumbria, especially during those first few days and weeks.
“Persevere, don’t panic and make sure you join a society,” are Hannah’s top tips, while Anna also urges new arrivals to get involved and not be afraid to ask for help.
“I’d looked at other places but when I came here it was like a family,” said Anna, who hails from Derby. “I felt so at ease, so relaxed and when I left my interview I said, ‘That’s where I want to go’. I never looked back.”
The proximity of the Lake District recently designated a World Heritage Site – with one University of Cumbria campus based within it – was another draw for the pair, who hope to pass on their experience to potential students.
Hannah and Anna’s guides, in which they discuss good and tough times, finance and their top tips, can be found on the university’s YouTube channel.
