Go behind the scenes at Brimstone

Brimstone Hotel describes itself as “the home of relaxed luxury in the heart of the Lake District”, with a collection of sixteen suites and rooms offering a haven of tranquillity and unequalled service in opulent surroundings.
While staying at the hotel, Brimstone Hosts are on hand to look after their guests’ every need – from room service to providing in-depth knowledge of The Lakes, which was recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hosts Andrea Thompson and Jake Brass explain how a dedicated team make an unforgettable experience for guests on the Langdale Estate.
“Brimstone Hosts have a really important role,” said Jake, 22, from Ambleside. “We call guests a few days before they arrive to see if we can arrange dinner reservations or spa treatments.
“When guests arrive, a Host greets them and gives them a full tour of their room and all the facilities. We have a phone on us at all times so a Host is always contactable – and lifts into The Lake District have proved popular!”
“Not many places offer the level of service we do at Brimstone,” added Andrea, 27, from Barrow. “As Hosts, we’re always doing something different. It’s a great opportunity.”
Guests can relax on their own private balconies, or make the most of the state-of-the-art Brimstone Spa.
“People love Brimstone Spa - they think it’s absolutely fantastic,” said Andrea. “You can hire your own room, the Bubble, for treatments and your own jacuzzi bath.
“Brimstone Spa has been such a great addition to the Estate,” added Jake.
As well as ensuring excellent experiences for guests, Brimstone also provides fantastic careers in hospitality in Cumbria.
“I started here four years ago when Brimstone first opened and have always really enjoyed it,” said Andrea. “The highlight for me is working with the staff here, as we have such a good team.
“Langdale Leisure is a really good company to work for, as they really look after you.
“I’ve got a young son and they have been really flexible with me when I’ve come back to work. It’s been great.”
Jake also highlights flexibility as a benefit of working for Langdale Leisure.
“I worked on the Langdale Estate as a housekeeper when I was at school and college and then transferred over to Brimstone,” he said. “I’ve been at university in Leeds for the past three years and work here during the holidays.
“The company always keeps my job open when I go to uni, and it’s been a huge help to me - particularly in the summer months.
“There’s a really solid team at Brimstone and it’s a flat structure so everyone is at the same level. The role is really varied and changes day to day. We also have a wide variety of people coming to stay, which keeps it really interesting.
“It’s always been a fantastic place to work.”
Brimstone is a deliberately different hotel and Langdale Leisure Ltd is looking for Hosts that can help maintain that difference.
You will use initiative and flexibility to best manage the day to day running of brimstone along with your team of hosts. The team will look after brimstone from first thing in the morning to last thing at night and the role is varied and includes looking after guests, cleaning and caring for the bedrooms and library and preparing food and drink for guests. You will do everything to ensure the guests have an experience they won’t forget.
